 Health Campus project Minimize

Waitemata DHB is taking the lead in an exciting new project to create an education and research network in the district which will function as a physical and virtual ‘Health Campus’. The initiative will build on existing education and research strengths and also foster new centres of excellence. The Waitemata DHB is working alongside tertiary education organisations, primary care, other health providers, local communities and other DHBs. The key function of the Health Campus will be to support the training, development and retention of health professionals, and help make Waitemata DHB an employer of choice.

The project is in three phases. The first of these is to strengthen current education, innovation and research activities in the community and at Waitakere, Wellsford and North Shore Hospital sites. The second phase is to continue to work collaboratively with primary care and non-government organisations, and the third phase will be to develop an education, research and innovation centre on the North Shore Hospital site.

Four foundation tertiary education institutions, The University of Auckland, AUT University, Unitec and Massey University, are supporting the project and a representative from each institution is on the Health Campus steering group. Other education institutions are expected to become involved as the project progresses.
