Clinical Research and Resource Centre

The Clinical Research and Resource Centre (CRRC) is a self-funding, separate business unit within the Waitemata District Health Board that has maintained financial viability since its inception in 1998.  The aim of the CRRC is to maintain a clinically applicable approach to any research endeavor.

Although the CRRC is a Waitemata DHB initiative, we provide a regional service and have formed strategic links with other DHBs in the North Island. We undertake research and training in the field of mental health. The scope of our research ranges from clinical trials to service utilisation and quality research.

We were initially involved in large, contracted, multi-centre trials, focusing on the areas of psychosis and mood disorders. In 2001 we started designing our own research. With dedicated funding in 2002, the Centre expanded into the alcohol and drug area. We are now developing a research profile in the health needs of Pacific peoples.

The clinicians who work with us have developed expertise in coordinating studies and have built a reputation for quality mental health research. A key strategy for the CRRC is to build research capacity within the sector, which we do by providing guidance and support for clinicians in the region's DHBs, who are developing their own research initiatives. Our own team brings a broad range of experience from nursing, psychiatry, psychology, pharmacy, sociology and anthropology.

On this website you can see what we are currently working on, view our reports and posters, and read our published material. Please contact us to talk about any research that interests you, or to discuss your own research.
